Company Description
Virgil Gamache Farms, Inc. (VGF) has grown in size and has been passed on to the current third generation who accepted management and ownership responsibilities in 1989.
In 1997, a new variety of aroma hop was discovered in one of the fields on the farm. The cultivar, VGXP01, was patented and is marketed under the Amarillo® brand. In 2003, the decision was made to increase aroma hop acreage on the farm to support the developing craft beer market. The farm went through a hop expansion and the apple orchards and wheat fields were replaced with hop trellis. By focusing on the craft market VGF has evolved into a much more sophisticated company today. The departments of brewer relations, agronomy, aroma research, plant development and accounting continue to evolve to meet the industry needs.
